Stephanie Helsing
President & CEO [email protected] As President & CEO of the Chamber, Stephanie Helsing provides vision and strategic direction for the organization, manages its operations, and serves business member needs, every day. Having served previously as the organization’s director of membership development from 2013 - 2019, Stephanie brings a wealth of experience to Silver Spring and the Chamber. Most recently, she served as senior manager of membership for the Public Affairs Council, where she grew the organization’s U.S. membership, oversaw the development and implementation of new member services, and supported the expansion of membership in the organization’s Brussels office. Being a 26-year resident of the Indian Spring community in Silver Spring and seeing three children successfully graduate from Montgomery Blair High School, along with her work in the community prior to the Chamber, including MCPS Northwood Cluster Co-coordinator responsible for Operations Budget testimony, multiple years spent as both PTA and PTSA President and Social Committee Chair for the Indian Spring Community Association, as well as being a Certified Assistant Boy Scout Leader for Troop 440, has given Stephanie a wide network of connections that easily supports her leadership role in the Chamber. Stephanie received her BSSP Summa Cum Laude, as well as a Certificate in Secondary Education, from Emerson College in Boston and her Masters Summa Cum Laude, in Political Science, with an International Relations focus, from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Cairo, Egypt where she spent 4 years attending University; working for the AUC Desert Development Center and the Arab Office for Youth and Environment, as well as extensively traveling the region. When Stephanie is not doing her utmost to help GSSCC business members achieve their full potential, her competitive nature steers her to various running and hiking challenges that she enjoys with her boyfriend David and a group of highly competitive friends. She likes to travel, go thrifting and antiquing, attend the theatre, read, spend time in her garden and loves the beach. At some point during the pandemic, she became the proud co-parent of an adopted mix breed puppy (Beagle- Pitbull) named Remus Augustus, who accompanies them on many of their adventures. |
